Two national standards for electric commercial vehicle battery swapping, led by Qiyuan Xindongli, have been approved and published by the National Standardization Management Committee, and will take effect on February 1, 2027. They will drive domestic electric commercial vehicle battery swap stations toward standardization and cross-brand interoperability.
Content of Two National Standards
The two published standards are GB/T 47961-2026 Station Control Systems and Charging/Discharging Services for Electric Commercial Vehicle Battery Swap Stations and another standard covering swap interfaces and communication protocols. Together, these standards address the two core issues of swap station construction standardization and swap compatibility.
Significance of Standardization
Previously, different brands of electric commercial vehicles had incompatible swap interfaces, communication protocols, and battery pack specifications, resulting in swap stations serving only specific brand vehicles, with low operational efficiency and high construction costs. After the standards take effect, cross-brand swap compatibility will become possible, allowing a single station to serve multiple brands of electric commercial vehicles.
Advantages of Battery Swap Mode
For commercial vehicles, time is money. Compared to charging, battery swap mode offers significant advantages: completing a swap in 3-5 minutes, far faster than the 30-60 minutes for fast charging; centralized battery management facilitates maintenance and inspection; and swap stations can serve as energy storage units for grid peak shaving.
In high-frequency operating scenarios such as logistics, public transit, and ports, battery swap has become the preferred energy补充 method for electric commercial vehicles.
Comprehensive Swap Standard System
In addition to commercial vehicle swap standards, the Technical Specification for Battery Swapping Systems of Electric Motorcycles and Electric Mopeds (GB/T 47352-2026) is即将实施, and the Centralized Charging Facilities for Electric Bicycles standard (GB/T 42236.2-2026) will take effect on February 1, 2027. The swap standard system is being comprehensively improved.
